Highlights from Spring Athletics

The spring sports season proved to be the toughest season to compete in overall for all of our team. All of our teams competed well, but I wanted to list some of our Spring Highlights.

Softball for the first time in school history won the league going 16-4 in the regular season and claiming the Dual County League Small Title. They earned a #4 seed in Division 1 North, but lost 4-1 to a good Boston Latin School Team last Saturday.

The Boys Crew Team made it all the way to the National Championships. Two of our Varsity Boats rowed at the National Meet, with both boats earning a spot in the Grand Final. The Varsity 1 Boat took an overall 4th place finish and the Varsity 2 Boat won a Silver Medal!

The Girls Crew Team did well too. The Girls Varsity 1 boat finished 1st in six spring races, and finished ranked 7th overall in the State.

The Girls Outdoor Track Team was Division 1 Finalist, but then went on to win All State Championship Meet. This top finish was paved by Junior – Brianna Duncan who took 1st place in three events (the first time in Massachusetts High School History). She won the Long Jump, the Triple Jump, and the 100 M Dash. Brianna to no surprise has been named the Boston Globe Runner of the Year. Sydeny Fisher, Maya Halprin Adams, and Yemisi Gbenebor also competed for the girls team.

Esu Alemseged and Danny Aschale competed for the Boys Track Team at All States. Esu took 2nd place at All States in the mile.

Also big Congratulations to both Scott Cody and Jamahl Prince. Scott was awarded the MSTCA (Mass State Track Coaches Association) Coach of the Year. Jamahl was just named the Boston Globe Division 1 Coach of the Year for the Outdoor Track and Field Season!

I want to thank you all for your continued support of CRLS Athletics.
